How do I get the beta?
TAKE is currently available to invited testers through TestFlight. Accept the invitation on your iPhone and install the current build. Public download is coming later. Email us if you have a question about availability.
TestFlight says the build is unavailable.
Check that your iPhone runs iOS 18 or later and that you accepted your TAKE invitation in TestFlight. Beta builds can expire. If you still cannot install, email us the message you see and we can check your invitation and build access.
Why is voice control unavailable?
Voice commands need iOS 26 and an iPhone that supports Apple’s on device speech model. TAKE checks compatibility in the voice settings. Core recording, reference overlays and audio mixing remain available on iOS 18 or later.
Voice setup is not finishing.
Allow microphone access in iPhone Settings, keep TAKE open and use an internet connection for the initial speech model download. Try setup again from the voice panel. Touch recording controls remain available.
What can I say to TAKE?
Enable voice control in the studio, then say “Hey Take, start recording”, “Hey Take, pause”, “Hey Take, resume” or “Hey Take, stop”. In Photo mode, say “Hey Take, take a photo”. The current version recognizes English commands. Keep the app open in the studio and check the visible recording state.
How do I add a reference?
Tap Reference in the studio and select a video from Photos or Files. Adjust opacity, mirroring, fit and start position to suit your shot. The reference picture is a preview guide and does not appear in your final recording.
Why can I hear the reference when I excluded it?
If reference playback comes from your iPhone speaker, the microphone can record it from the room. Use headphones to help prevent this. The choice to include reference audio in the export is separate from playback monitoring.
Can voice commands be heard in my take?
Yes, if microphone audio is included, your spoken commands can be in the recording. TAKE does not automatically remove them. You can exclude microphone audio in the sound mix.
How do I take a photo?
Switch to Photo in the studio, choose your aspect ratio and tap the shutter. Your reference can help with framing and stays out of the saved photo. Open My Takes to preview, share or save it to Photos.
How do I change video quality?
Open Studio settings and select a resolution and frame rate. TAKE offers up to 4K at 60 FPS where the selected camera supports it. Camera changes may require a lower quality. Cropping to a different aspect ratio reduces saved dimensions.
How do I prepare for a scene cut?
Open Reference and enable Pause at scene cuts. Use the scene preview to find a cut, then tap Add stop. This does not change Start at. TAKE pauses automatically at each active stop. Move into position and tap Resume or say “Hey Take, resume”. A three second countdown gives you time to prepare. Timing offers five or ten seconds. Stops before Start at are skipped.
Can I cancel the resume countdown?
Yes. Tap the cancel button beside the recording button to return to the paused state. Tap the stop recording button to finish and save the take. Countdown and preparation time are excluded from the video.
Where are my photos and videos?
Open My Takes to preview, share or save to Photos. The library is local to TAKE. Save important photos and clips before deleting the app. Copies you already saved to Photos or Files are kept separately.
A recording or export was interrupted.
Open My Takes again to look for the recording. TAKE can recover finalized camera files after an interrupted export, but a file that never finished recording may not be playable. Keep storage available and save important clips after each session.
How long can I record?
A take can be up to 10 minutes. TAKE checks for available storage before recording. Available space, device temperature and system interruptions can still affect a session.
